Once an LPA has been registered, it can be used as appropriate but as attorneys know, they need to register it at the various banks and other institutions and with the GP and other health providers. It can take time and proof of your ID is required.

The OPG have introduced (from 17^th July) a new on-line tool attorneys can use, it can be found at http://www.gov.uk/opg 

Initially, the service is available for newly registered LPAs and the OPG are hoping to extend it for LPAs which have already been registered.
