We are pleased to announce that Mr John Flanagan of the Merseyside Asbestos Victim Support Group has been nominated for the ‘Friend Award’ of the Echo’s Pride of Merseyside Awards. John works tirelessly to help victims of asbestos related diseases and their families on Merseyside and further afield.

John and his team provide a free service to help victims by helping them apply for benefits associated with asbestos related diseases, providing practical assistance in the completion of all appropriate paperwork and representation at DWP tribunals. They also provide a home visiting service to victims who cannot travel to their office and provide support to families at inquests. Most importantly, they provide a drop in centre for victims and their families to talk to someone who understands.

Furthermore, John and his team continue to campaign for the rights of victims of asbestos related diseases and raise awareness of the dangers of asbestos dust, and it is wonderful that he has been recognised for the irreplaceable and exceptional service he and his team provide.

If anyone requires assistance from the Merseyside Asbestos Victim Support Group or would like to know more about their work they can be contacted on 0151 236 1895.
